If you are interested in couples counseling, it means that the connection isn’t as strong as you both desire. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help. Sometimes we need guidance to get back on the path to connection and intimacy. Couples counseling is a way to talk through things in a safe environment. Times may be tough, but that doesn’t mean it can’t get better quickly if you are both willing to listen to each other and respond.

My approach is to support both people in their truth. I am focused on facilitating the conversation and developing skills to work through the issues holding you apart. I do not take sides or play favorites. It’s all about a healthy dynamic between the two of you. My goal is to work myself out of the process so that you don’t need me at all.

I also teach skills on how to open up difficult conversations, respond to your partner in a way that both people can be heard, how to come together after arguments, and how to make sure that you both get what you need.

I have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and use many of these techniques in my work.

Couples counseling sessions include a process to work towards a sounds relationship.
The Gottman method is based on decades of research and proven effective with couples. It is a hands-on approach to finding connection and common ground.

You'll learn the most common factors that lead to separation, how to build more positivity in your relationship, how to show interest, and how to respond effectively to your partner. You will walk away with a new perspective and a new skillset to create more happiness in your relationship.

Getting Started

What to expect

I typically conduct 90 minute sessions for couples clients. I have found that extended time creates faster progress and more momentum.

Session 1

The first session is a time to learn about each other. To learn about the strengths of the couple and the desired areas for improvements. It’s also a time to learn how I help. I will share details about the process and what to expect.

You will leave with comprehensive assessments to complete so that we can all understand factors that create your current relationship health.

Session 2

The second session is spent individually with each person. This gives each partner a time to say exactly how they feel about the relationship and share information without reservations.

Each couple will have the option to split the time of one session or schedule two individual full appointments.

Session 3

The third session is an important time to reconnect after the individual sessions, share impressions, and review the assessments from session one.

We will discuss a treatment plan that is best suited for your relationship moving forward. We will talk about next steps, skill building, and where to focus.
